The house is shaking from thunder,
Vibrating a transformative murmur.
Things are coming to a close;
The winds of change madly blow,
"It's time to let go, time to let go...
Let got of what no longer serves you;
Make the break, strip away the old you.
Outgrown the old, you are a new you;
Step aside and reveal the true you."
I'm sick of all the suffering, I've had it with all the loss,
I know its all a part of the great circle,
But I've really had enough.
I'm angry at the world, but
Angrier that I have anger
Was once a peaceful person,
But the world's learned me to suffer.
We were karmically connected,
But not the way I'd once thought.
You've scarred, raped and abused me,
Left my body to rot.
I wonder what I did to you,
in a past life now forgot?
To deserve this punishment,
betrayal, pain and loss...
Shedding like a snake,
Peeling all the layers back.
This is me: raw and peeling,
Itching to be free.
All that's old and fading,
Shedding my skin.
All that's new and liberating.
The Eternal Serpent,
Timeless and healing,
Quetzequatl and Hermes
The Eternal Serpent,
Fertile wisdom, Kundalini
Kali-Ma, Adi Shakti
Pluto transits are usually the most transformative out of any transit. The are slow, grueling periods of catharsis. Deeply psychological, these transits are usually accompanied by either violation, loss, trauma, humiliation, shame or guilt. Something will happen that will trigger these feelings. It's easy to feel like everything is slowly crumbling away, or that there is a greater force against you. This is true, that force is called "death." Nothing lasts forever on Earth. Everything changes. Empty handed we come, and empty handed we will go. We easily get attached. These Pluto transits are useful because they remind us that we can get on just fine, no matter what, even without the thing that brought us comfort, security or joy. These transits show us our power; but first we feel powerless. Change is the only constant in the entire universe (as we know it!)
There are two choices in a Pluto transit: obsession or surrender. Some people will grasp onto the past. It's hard to accept the change at first. We can obsess over the person who hurt us, for example, or the painful memory that we cannot change. The other option is to surrender to the greater force of the universe: the giver of life and death. This is why many people have spiritual awakenings as a result of a Pluto transit, possibly combined with a compulsive desire to understand. For me, I became obsessed with astrology when Pluto squared my natal Sun. This was both because I wanted to understand the rhythms of the cosmos, and so that I could better understand how to navigate the tides of life.
Pluto, the Lord of the Underworld, has great talent of uprooting. Things that we've buried have a way of emerging from the grave. Also, we notice when our belongings, connections or habits get really old. We might ask ourselves if we should continue in that vein. We know what we need to do, and if we don't act on our own accord, the universe will choose for you. Pluto will take away what is toxic or outgrown. It might be tough, but he ultimately wants to empower you. We may have a compulsive desire to purge the old and make way for the new, by way of physically cleaning house or even mentally cleaning the attic. Often people seek out a therapist or healer during this time, to assist with the purging process. Sometimes, we have to admit to feeling powerless alone, to seek empowerment elsewhere in the community. After a while, we find that it actually feels really good to release. We are ultimately making room for brighter light to come into our lives. We will often be pleasantly surprised and one day find ourselves grateful that everything happened the way it did. "The Ecstacy of Healing," is a very real experience.
As I previously mentioned, we become severely aware of our mortal limitations. This may inspire one to become the best version of themselves moving forward. We will inevitably shed our skin. We might say, "I will never be that 'me' again, but I will become a wiser, stronger, more grateful 'me.'" Pluto is the modern ruler of the sign, Scorpio, who is not only embodied by the scorpion, but also the eagle, the serpent and the phoenix: It will sting like a scorpion, then we will focus like an eagle, we will shed like a serpent and reborn, we will rise from the ashes like a phoenix. From darkness to light, Wahe Guru.

Jupiter remains on the North Node for the remainder of the month. Again, pay attention to who you meet, or offers that you are extended; if you receive an offer to leap forward, and it feels right, think about saying yes. Mercury travels closely to Pluto for the entire month. Secrets may emerge. On a personal level, old memories may arise for review, remembering, or even healing and releasing if they are painful memories. This could be a deeply psychological period. You might hear from someone you haven’t heard from in awhile. If you are thinking of an old friend, reach out to them, because they are probably thinking of you too!
On Sunday, January 17th, the Moon is in earthly Taurus all day, governing the five senses. With a lunar opposition to Mars, there may be a need to get moving and honor the physical body. Use your body as a vehicle to blow off some steam: exercise, yoga, sex, or hiking. If this energy does not find a positive outlet, it may find one that isn’t so pleasant, like an argument. Never drive when you are upset. The urgency to act may be strong, since Mars is in all or nothing Scorpio. Go for it. Fight for it. Do it. With passion.
Juno colors today’s energy, which could bring on admiration, dedication, or her shadow side of envy and jealousy. The Moon sextiles Neptune at 2:28pm, inviting us to connect with the dream we are grounding into reality. Indulge a little this evening, when Venus squares Jupiter.
The Moon remains in Taurus all day Monday. There is a lingering desire to indulge, but there is also a huge potential for creative endeavors, so indulge creatively. We are going after what we want. There may be a sense that we are “destined” to do this, or there’s a sense of devotion to the act itself. This could also be a spiritual devotion. Neptune is unbridled bhakti, devotion and love, expressed. Neptune is the dream. Today, we honor Martin Luther King, who embodied his dream. His life purpose was devoted to creating a better world in which equality and fairness reign. That dream has begun to unfold into reality.
Our creativity, talents and gifts are also focused by the Sun’s conjunction with Pallas Athena today. Allowing our creativity to flow, is how we connect with our authentic truth. The same formula isn’t going to work for everyone. This is also illuminating our intellectual ability to plan and strategize. Pallas is the daughter born of her father’s mind. She is sly, weaving, somewhat of an outcast, but her brilliance halts other’s mockery. In other words, haters are gonna hate. Don’t worry, just be you; your truest, fullest expression of self.
Tuesday, January 19th, the Moon enters Gemini at 4:13 am. Gemini wants to gather information: Socialize, read, inquire, discover, learn, experience and see. We may find ourselves confused or overwhelmed with information overload when the Moon squares Neptune at 6:09 pm. Instead, we may decide to check out and get lost on purpose. In the grand scheme of everything, “facts” are meaningless. In time, our current consensus of what defines “reality,” will soon be history, and today’s dreams will be tomorrow’s reality. Let go for tonight; allow yourself to pause linear thought. We will regain our focus in the morning, just in time for the busy day.
On Wednesday, January 20th, the Sun enters speedy, futuristic Aquarius. The eye is on the prize of the future, the past is in the past. The airwaves are electric, buzzing with thoughts. Catch a wave, tune into the collective consciousness that is continuously evolving. We feel an energetic turbo boost at the beginning of the day. Inspiration arrives early and carries out through the afternoon. We feel like we can get anything and everything done. Order is not necessary, just ride the wave. Be open to new ideas or modes of thinking or doing. Inventive, original ideas flow faster than humanly possible to keep up with. Write down good ideas for rainy days. These ideas could be work related, or regarding a project you’ve been steadily working towards for a long time. Be receptive of new inspiration, especially if you’ve recently found yourself on a plateau.
Thursday, January 21st, the Moon is in homebody Cancer, further illuminating Monday’s creativity. We return to our endeavors, perhaps with fresher eyes after some of the clarity we gained this week. This is a great day to lay low at home, integrate and chill. Venus sextiles Ceres, which may inspire you to whip up a new recipe. Intuitive and creative cooking is a definite possibility.
Friday, January 22nd, the Moon remains in Cancer for the entire day. It might be an emotionally or psychologically uncomfortable day for some. Emotions clash with the mind. We try to reason, but the emotions are still there. It's easier to do what you feel, but it's not always the best choice. Sometimes we need to pause and strategize.
Old memories or patterns are stirred up for reviewing when retrograde Mercury joins Pluto once again. They will be dancing together for a few weeks. The last time these two conjoined was December 20th, so whatever that story was, it may reemerge this week. We might ask ourselves, “Why is this showing up? Am I ready to find peace with this story or pattern and release it as a burden?” Let the wound heal into a scar, and create tougher skin. If you are not yet ready to release, it’s okay. There is no rush. Healing takes time. Walk yourself through the story with compassion; talk to yourself like you would a small child. Slowly find forgiveness for not knowing better. Honor your strength and endurance to keep up, despite what you’ve been through. Love yourself for having the courage to be here now, as a human being, who is not all knowing, who is learning and growing each and every day.
Saturday, January 23rd is a FULL MOON, exact at 8:45 pm, at 4⁰ Leo. The Sabian symbol for this degree is “An older man in evening clothes, of poised and military bearing, stands alone before a mounted moose head.”
This Full moon is about acknowledging your accomplishments and trophies. Leo governs self-expresion, enjoyment and pride. Which of your accomplishments are you most proud of? Where are you leaving your mark on the world? This is not only a period of reflecting on what you have accomplished thus far, but also a chance to envision what your “moose head” might be. For a hunter, a moose is the cream of the crop─ rare, giant, and majestic. Sought by many, achieved by some, success usually does not come easily. It’s usually something attained with careful cultivation of skill and much patience.
Success can be personally rewarding, but it can also be alienating. Mark Twain once said, “There’s always something about your success that displeases even your best friends.” Judy Garland has said, “It’s cold and lonely on the top…lonely and cold.” Often, we must sacrifice something, big or small, to make our dream come true.
There are many paths to the top of Success Mountain. We can be ruthless, stepping on others’ heads to get on top. Or, we maintain our dharmic integrity on our path. Leo rules the heart and how we express what’s inside. Let this Full Moon remind us to have compassion for those we encounter on our path, and to take time to be grateful for those who have assisted us on our path. Let us also remember to do what we love, following our true heart path up the mountain. Let us express truthfully from our heart, authentically, with reverence and gratitude. May we become victorious by simply honoring our heart. This Moon is known as "The Wolf Moon", so we can either travel in packs, or become the Wolf of Wall street.
Venus enters Capricorn today at 3:31 pm. Now she is truly ready to focus. It will be much easier to implement those New Year’s resolutions now. In Sag, Venus was extremely indulgent, craving take-out, rich, fatty, or sugary foods. Maybe you resisted temptation, or maybe you caved, but the temptation was real. Now, Venus will be more interested in a more conservative diet. She wants a routine, something to work towards. Venus in Capricorn is extremely loyal, whether committed to another person, goal or cause. She is refined here, aware of what’s acceptable and what is not. Venus doesn’t necessarily have a finer taste in Capricorn, in fact, she can survive on the raw basics; what it comes down to, is “will it serve the end goal? How is this useful?”
Sunday, January 24th, the only major aspect is the Leo Moon’s square to Mars in Scorpio. Passionate, productive and powerful are today’s key words. Use it however you must. The Moon goes void in Leo at 9:51 pm with a trine to Uranus; it all becomes clear now. If you are up late, or living on the west coast, this could add creativity and spontaneity to the mix.
Monday, January 25th, Mercury turns direct today, which is good news if you experienced a troublesome retrograde period. However, the Trickster God often transitions with a bang. Often we are moving too fast, and we forget to turn off the coffee maker after we pour our last cup; the coffee pot explodes as we are trying to run out the door, and now we’ll be late to work because we have to attend to a kitchen disaster (thanks for this real life example, Robin!). Just be ready for anything, because the day is also colored by lightning-speed Uranus. When Uranus and Mercury team up, expect the unexpected and be ready to laugh at yourself; “the jokes on you” with Mercury and Uranus is the “Eureka!” So when you are asking the universe “why, why did that have to happen?”, and you receive some insight out of the blue, thank Uranus!
Tuesday, January 26th, the Virgo Moon makes nice aspects to Venus. Helpful people, or people working together. This is a very productive, supportive combination. We might crave healthy foods today! The Moon opposes Neptune at 2:52 pm. We want to make a positive mark on the world. If we are working, in service to others, it’s possible that we might make contribute to making “a dream come true;” it doesn’t have to be major or life changing, it might just mean making someone’s day. Maybe you are working towards your own dreams coming true too. Today has the potential to be busy, productive and helpful.
Wednesday, January 27th, Ceres is at the last degree of Aquarius. Ceres has the same etymological origins as the word, “cereal,” ruling cultivation, agriculture, and how we nurture and nourish ourselves and others. In Aquarius, it’s the science of food and agriculture, for better or for worse. While Ceres has been in Aquarius, the FDA approved GMO salmon, and the House of Representatives passed the DARK Act (Deny Americans the Right to Know, aka, Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act of 2015). This would allow food companies the choice of labelling whether their ingredients are GMO or not, as well as country of origin. 9/10 Americans want to know what’s in their food. This Bill has not yet passed by the Senate or signed into law by President Obama. However, we may hear more from these stories this week. GMOs and pesticides are largely controversial; because while the technology allows us to grow more food and feed more people, the long-term risks of consuming them are still unknown, and therefore potentially hazardous. This debate clearly demonstrates the shadow side and the higher expression of the Ceres in Aquarius archetype, aka, food sciences.
The Moon opposes Chiron today, calling for self-love, healing, honoring ones healing process, and forgiveness. Chiron also represents our mentors, teachers, healers and counselors; some of whom may show up for us today. Pay attention to who you meet today, or any offers; there may be a helpful connection for you here. The Moon goes void at 7:11 pm with a conjunction to Jupiter in Virgo. Less is more.
Thursday, January 28th, Ceres enters Pisces. Ceres has the same etymological origins as the word, “cereal,” ruling cultivation, agriculture, and how we nurture and nourish ourselves and others. In Pisces, Ceres might spotlight on hydroponic gardening, caring for oceans and marine life, and making sure that more people in the world have access to clean drinking water. Here in Cleveland, Erin Huber, CEO of Drink Local, Drink Tap, raises money so that she can visit Uganda and dig water wells is arid villages. Many of these people must walk up to four miles, just to access fresh water. Because of Erin, these kids can have fresh water in their own backyard, and instead, spend more time in school. Pisces also rules spiritual practice, so we may see another wave of people turning to meditation, yoga or qi gong. Water is definitely going to be a major focus. If you haven’t heard about the Seabin project, you must check it out! Seabins are recycling bins for the ocean. This amazing invention is one of many that could potentially make a huge impact during this time.
Moon enters Libra at 10:00 am, urging us towards harmony in groups, seeing both sides of the situation and weighing things out properly. Fairness is key.
Friday, January 29th, the Moon squares Mercury and Pluto, rehashing an old story or pattern. It might be the same one from last weekend; but now that the Messenger God is moving forward, so are we. Maybe we now have a solid understanding of the purpose it served in our lives. Now we can release it with gratitude: it happened, it taught us something valuable, and now it is gone. We will remember it fondly, like an old friend.
The evening has potential to take a wild turn of events. Ride the wave. Do something out of the ordinary, meet new people, try something new, or just go with the flow. Your uber driver might be extra quirky with some random stories. Who knows! Just be safe out there. Everyone will be feeling a little mischievous, adventurous or wild tonight. If you typically go out on Fridays, maybe you rebel against your routine and stay inside.
Saturday, January 30th, the Moon is void in Libra all day, until she enters Scorpio at 10:50 pm. Today is a great day for socializing and enjoyment. Venus sextiles Neptune, it could turn out to be a particularly fun and memorable day. Time will disappear when you are having this much fun. Pay attention to who you meet. Serendipitous encounters are possible, especially in the late morning/early afternoon.
Sunday, January 31st, the Moon is in deeply sensitive and powerful Scorpio all day. Mercury squares Uranus and Vesta, so you may be called to defend your beliefs. Stand up for what you believe in and speak your truth! Today is best spent trusting your intuition. If you need to stay home, chill and float around the house all day, do it. You never know where the current will carry you next. If you have things that you want to accomplish, do it. Today is a powerful day, but we get to choose. As long as we are in alignment with our heart, we will feel rejuvenated at the end of the day.
Aho Mitakyue Oyasin. May Mother Earth and all her inhabitants be awakened to our unity, and the highest LOVE of the Universe.
Love, peace and healing to ALL....

Around Christmas, I had plans to spend January holed up inside, resisting alcohol and take-out. I imagined myself steaming kale every night, reading, saving money and working towards my goals.
Venus entered the grandiose sign of Sagittarius on December 30th, 2015. Venus is our pleasure principle, governing our relationships, values, money, and what we like or don’t like. The sign Venus is in influences our tastes. In the expansive sign of Sagittarius, Venus likes indulging to excess. On a bad day, she can be a voracious glutton, compulsively consuming expensive cocktails, turducken and macaroons. That’s probably the worst case scenario. Maybe we just have a serious craving for fatty, sugary, exotic or expensive foods. Venus in Sag doesn’t care about the price tag, as long as it quenches her desire. “Because I want it,” she nonchalantly rationalizes.
As it turns out, I’ve attended four going away parties since January 2nd, 2016 (none of which will be permanent since Mercury is retrograde), and of course all of these events involved going out to a bar. Plus, I’ve had insatiable cravings for pizza, as well as other favorite dishes from my favorite restaurants. Last week, I ate pizza for dinner 5/7 nights. I can at least reason that one of them I made at home with vegan cheese and lots of veggies, but still.
Venus in Sag also loves games and gambling. Sagittarius can never have too much fun. How interesting that the Powerball has been such a hot topic! Inflated numbers at that! Just as I’m writing this article, I realize that my newly rekindled love for solitaire is no coincidence. I’ve been playing the shit out of that game all week!
Venus finally leaves Sagittarius for conservative Capricorn on January 23rd. By then, it should be much easier resisting the urge to excessively spend, go out, and enjoy too much take-out. When Venus is in Capricorn, we must earn our enjoyment. It’s not automatically deserved. That means steaming kale Monday through Friday, and then eating out on the weekend, for example. Venus in Capricorn is more goal oriented, loyal and focused on the end in mind. Here, Venus doesn’t care so much about the price tag; she can survive on the raw basics or treat herself. What it comes down to, is “how will this serve the end goal? How is this useful?” Venus in Capricorn has the ability to be more discerning. She has an easier time saying “no.” So if sticking to a new diet plan has been difficult, don’t give up just yet!

We welcome the New Year ahead while we reflect on the year behind us. It’s like we are standing in a doorway between the past and the future. The etymological origin of “January” comes from the Roman God of transitions, Janus, who is depicted as one head with two faces. One face looks towards the past, while the other eagerly looks to the future. Often, one of the faces is bearded, while the other is not, representing the Sun and the Moon. Janus also functioned as a door between worlds; he was always the first God to be invoked, as if he were the gatekeeper to the other Roman Gods beyond.
For the entire month of January, Jupiter sits on the North Node of Destiny, which symbolizes the future, where we are headed or what we are reaching for. Jupiter represents growth, expansion, prosperity, abundance and joy. Pay attention to personal connections these next couple of weeks; these people may help you on your path. They might offer you a “lead,” or may serve as catalytic inspiration for personal growth.
No doubt that we will be focused on enriching personal goals as we begin a new year, Jupiter on the North Node also speaks to the collective. We live in a world where there is a caustic distribution of wealth, and our technological advances aren’t yet utilized to their fullest potential; and yet, we see that there is enough for everyone to have their basic needs met. Yes, our population continues to grow exponentially, but if the entire population lived at the density of New York City, the entire human population of Earth could fit inside of Colorado. We have the knowledge and the resources to create more joy and prosperity for all.
Jupiter remains conjoined to the North Node of Destiny through June of 2016. Let’s see what happens!
On January 1st, the Moon is in Libra for the entire day, highlighting harmony and relating. Spend the day with loved ones or celebrate the holiday by cherishing yourself. Pleasant aspects to Mercury and Venus lend clarity to our intentions and our values. Today is best spent in enjoyable situations with good company. The sign of the scales weighs the situation; this is perfect for taking stock of the past year and deciding where to set our intentions for next year. Mercury enters innovative Aquarius, where he loves to socialize and share ideas.
Saturday, January 2nd may be a wild day. Expect the unexpected. The Moon goes void at 11:23 am with an opposition to chaotic Uranus, and later meets up with wild woman Lilith. There is an urge to break the routine and do something inspiring, enlightening or even destructive! Destruction isn’t always bad, for example, knocking down a wall in your house paves the way for a new flowing design. If there is something in your life that is blocking your chi from flowing, smashing the blockade can be extremely positive fuel for renewal. Kali, the Hindu goddess of destruction and rebirth comes to mind. Call on Kali if you need assistance today!
Mars leaves Libra and enters Scorpio on Sunday, January 3rd. Mars is the action principle, also ruling our primal desires. In Libra, Mars has a hard time asserting himself for fear of disrupting the harmony of the group. It’s much easier for him to just go along with the flow even if it contradicts what he knows is right for himself; sometimes this results in passive aggressive behavior. In Scorpio, the Martian passion blazes a trail of certainty; it is easy to execute a decision because his heart tells him so. Everything will fall into place eventually. In the sign of Scorpio, Mars doesn’t get caught up in the details. It’s all or nothing; things are spelled out very clear. Do or die. Mars in Scorpio is very passionate and deeply commits to his pursuits. These are usually not fleeting commitments. Scorpio has a strong fixation, tenacity and does not give up easily. Mohandas Ghandi had Mars in Scorpio and led a life of passion, endurance and dedication to a cause. Leonardo DiCaprio also has Mars in Scorpio and you don’t see him giving up on that Oscar!
Mars will remain in Scorpio until March 5th. In the meantime, we are invited to deeply commit ourselves to something, be it a ritual, a process, or even a cause… your heart will tell you. For many, this will be automatic.
On Monday, January 4th, the Moon conjoins with Juno, Queen of Heaven and consort of Zeus. Again, we are reminded of our commitments, our promises and upholding our integrity. Creativity and transcendence from the mundane world may pique our interest today with the Moon’s trine to Neptune in the early morning. Dreams may be really intense just before we awaken. Try to remember them! Dreams are keys to our subconscious mind, which is also accessed through meditation.
Mercury Retrograde begins. Celestially speaking, Tuesday, January 5th is a very busy day! “As above, so below…” Mercury stalls its movement in the sky at the first degree of Aquarius, squaring Mars at the first degree of Scorpio. Before we can begin (1st degrees), we need to review the information we are working with, making sure we aren’t overlooking any key details. Mercury in Aquarius is innovative, quick, inventive, idealistic, and is concerned with leading the pack to a place where everyone sits on their own throne of divinity. Aquarius looks towards the future, ruling scientific and technological innovation. But first, Mercury must slow down and return to his roots in traditional Capricorn, where he remembers how to be refined, grounded and steady. We are pausing so that we don’t get too far ahead of ourselves.
Wherever 15⁰ Capricorn- 1⁰ Aquarius falls in your chart, is where you are taking a step back to review before charging ahead. Retrograde periods are often dreaded; especially Mercury, who has a reputation for causing our gadgets to go haywire and making us late for work. These things definitely can happen. Instead of cursing the messenger God, we can ask ourselves, “What is the message here?” If we are hitting every yellow light, maybe the message is to be more cautious. If we have been paying attention, we may have received a hint as to what this retrograde will mean for us. Think back between now and the 21st for clues. This story will continue to rework itself.
Mercury will remain retrograde until January 25th. If you are planning on signing a lease or anything really important, just make sure you read the fine print closely!
The Sun makes his annual conjunction with Pluto, Lord of the Underworld, at 10:28 pm. This is an extremely powerful combination. The sustaining source of all life, the Sun, conjoins with the principle of impermanence, death and transformation. This is a rejuvenating period of refocusing our intentions. While this transit normally lasts just a few days, it is coloring the Mercury retrograde, so we may ask ourselves, “Who am I being? Is this sustainable? Am I aligned with my true heart path, my higher purpose?” This could also be a call to take stock of one’s health. If our habits aren’t healthy enough, this is a great opportunity to make positive changes. Pay attention to the new information that comes to light. Renewal is the key here.
The Moon enters Sagittarius at 1:56 am on Wednesday, January 6th. If yesterday was a tough day, rest assured that the mood will definitely be lighter today. Today is a day of seeking small pleasures. We may find joy through our yoga practice, or find peace snuggled up with a good book. In the evening, the Moon conjoins with Venus, which may inspire us to meet up with a good friend for dinner. Venus is all about relating and enjoyment, and in Sagittarius, she loves indulging in a rich meal.
On Thursday, January 7th, the Sun forms his semi-annual square to Uranus, the awakener. Expect the unexpected─ like lightening, which strikes suddenly and illuminates the sky in a beautiful, yet ominous way. Uranus can show us something in a new light, rattle our perspective or even destroy. If there is a situation that limits us, we may be called to finally find our voice in the matter, or leave it altogether.
Later this evening, Jupiter stations retrograde at 23⁰ Virgo. Again, pay attention to the people you meet this week! They may offer you a “lead” on your path. In the rhythm of the cosmos, there is an inhalation and an exhalation, an expansion and a contraction; Jupiter represents the expansive nature. On a personal level, it helps to have a basic understanding of your chart and where this expansive planet is working with you. We may be doing a lot of personal work on our inner critic and minding our health during this time. This is also a useful period to refine our skills, as Virgo enjoys utilizing her gifts to serve the community. Jupiter will remain retrograde until May 9th, when he reaches 13⁰ Virgo.
While Jupiter has been in Virgo, we’ve been finding ways expand by minimizing. Books like Simplify Your Life are so hot right now! “Simplify encourages you to find what brings you happiness and then helps you find ways to make room for more of it,” and the same thing could be said about Jupiter in Virgo.
Jupiterian themes such as religion, universities, student loans, foreign countries and foreigners could make the news in a big way today. These themes have been continuously major since Saturn entered Jupiter’s home sign of Sagittarius in December 2014, and will remain relevant until Saturn leaves Sagittarius in December 2017. By then, hopefully we will have made some progressive headway in dealing with these issues. In the meantime, we will continue to hear the knocks on the door from Jupiter and Saturn.

On Friday, January 8th, the Moon enters Capricorn at 10:07 am. Industriousness and practicality are in the air. Today has the potential to be very productive on whatever it is that you are working towards. Mercury retrogrades back into Capricorn at 2:36 pm, inviting us to revisit a project. Venus conjoins Saturn at 11:11 pm, adding to the serious, realistic tone of the day.
Saturday, January 9th, we have a New Moon at 20⁰ Capricorn, exact at 8:31 pm EST. On this New Moon, we are invited to plant new seeds surrounding our goals. Since Mercury is also retrograde in Capricorn, we are able to rework our vision. Often, when we think our work is complete, we go back and realize that it’s not perfect yet. Capricorn is concerned with mastery of the earth element. Mastery is achieved by structuring a plan, sticking to it, putting in the work and finally obtaining the bounty. It’s important to be crystal clear with ourselves, so that we can delineate our path.
Roadblocks may occur, and that’s when these retrograde periods are most useful, so that we can rework our plan.
The ruler of Capricorn is Saturn, who remains conjoined to Venus, reminding us that it’s important to do what we love! How often have we worked hard to achieve something, only to realize soon after that it’s no big deal? Sometimes we put too much energy into projects that really aren’t in alignment with our true heart path, but we do them to please others; this can be rewarding or draining, depending on the situation. Saturn rules time, so use it wisely and do what is in the highest alignment with your heart.
The New Moon conjoins Pluto and squares Uranus, indicating that our plan may undergo unexpected but necessary adjustments. Adding to the madness, Eris, goddess of discord stations retrograde today. Collectively, these placements may indicate some sort of rebellion against the status quo. Fresh revolutionary ideals clash with the deceit of old outworn patriarchal structures. Individually, this could be a flash of insight that inspires you to shift your direction in a mild or radical way. If something happens unexpectedly that is really challenging, the best thing we can do is understand that we are surrounded in love by the universe; we wouldn’t be given a challenge that we can’t handle. Remember that everything will smooth itself out in time. You may wonder why things happen the way they did, or wonder what life would be like were it not for that maddening jolt. But at the same time, you will be grateful for the wisdom and resilience you have gained.
We are all ONE. The Sabian symbol for this New Moon is, “A hidden choir is singing during a religious service; the fulfillment of the individual’s creative function through his participation in a group performance consecrated to a transcendent realization of unity.” No matter what you do, big or small, you are important! We are all contributing to this experience in time and space, here on Earth.
On Sunday, January 10th, the Moon goes void with a conjunction to Mercury at 12:39 pm. Make sure that we have all of the facts. The void period is brief, ending at 3:23 pm when the Moon enters quick witted Aquarius. Restlessness is a possibility tonight. There may be a concern regarding the near or distant future. There may be an urgency to act, or at least make a list of things you need to do this week. Aquarian Moons love socializing; think of the hive-mind or think-tank. This is why many Aquarians love trivia!
Monday, January 11th, the Aquarian Moon sextiles Uranus, bringing in a concern for the future. The Moon also sextiles Saturn and Venus, remembering where we’ve come from and reminding us to love what we do. We must enjoy the ride, spend time with loved ones and people that enrich our lives. The Moon goes void with a sextile to Uranus at 8:09 pm, so the evening may have a spontaneous zing too it. Go with the flow if you can!
Tuesday, January 12th, the Moon is void for most of the day, so it’s a good day to rework ongoing projects and to follow up on little things. Save the big things for later. Relaxation is optional, but unlikely today unless you are feeling under the weather. This is because Venus trines Uranus this evening and the restlessness continues. There may be a desire to mix up the evening once again. Maybe Venus wants to socialize with different people or get inspired by new scenery. The Moon enters transcendent, spiritual Pisces at 6:53 pm. Escape the mundane and mix it up!
We may find ourselves floating through the day on Wednesday. The Moon is in cosmic Pisces for the entirety of the day. Things flow smoothly with beautiful aspects to Mars and Neptune. If we received some inspiration or clarity earlier in the month, this is a great period of integration, reflection and revitalization. The Moon squares Saturn at 4:06 pm, so we may have to bite our lip briefly because we might not be getting our way, or receive a heavy dose of reality. Overall, the mood is bright today, with the Sun’s optimistic trine Jupiter. We might feel extra radiant, confident or feel like we are surrounded by our guardian angels. Today has a lot of potential to uplift ourselves spiritually.
If you have a hefty to-do list ton Thursday, get an early start and tackle the most important things before the Moon goes void at 11:31 am. This shouldn’t be so difficult since the Sun conjoins Mercury at 9:05 am, giving us a mental boost.
Personalities may be strong today, as others want to make sure you understand where they are coming from. People might just want to talk about themselves today! But that’s great because you can learn something from everyone. The Moon arrives on the South Node of releasing. We may have an opportunity to let go of something that’s been dead weight for far too long. Doing so will elevate ourselves closer to our highest potential. If the opportunity presents itself, have courage and go forth!
In the evening, we get another mental boost of activity, so work late if you must. The Moon enters Aries at 9:48 pm. It could be a late night tonight.
We still have a lot of energy on Friday, January 15th, as the Moon remains in energetic Aries all day. The Moon aligns with Vesta in the early afternoon. Vesta is the guardian of the eternal flame, the hearth and the heart. Pursue your heart’s desire today. If it’s not in alignment with your purpose, it’s okay to decline the offer.
There are some potentially chaotic aspects in the wee hours of Saturday, January 16th. So if your Friday night carries over into Saturday, make sure you are being mindful. It’s an evening where people might be feeling extra precocious. If that is you, try to be smart about it!
The Aries Moon aspects to Venus and Mercury around 9:45 am, inviting warm or inspiring conversations with others. It’s okay to disagree, and cordially debate the issue at hand. The Moon goes void at 6:26 pm with a square to the Sun. There may be an imbalance in our vitality. We might be feeling tired while our partner is wound up and wants to go out. Strike a balance or choose to honor your own energy.
