The planets are preparing for battle, and so are we. Three planets are slowing down as we speak, gathering fierce momentum as they prepare for retrograde motion: Mars (God of War), Pluto (Lord of the Underworld) and Mercury (the Divine Messenger). The fabled battle between the light and darkness is very real, experienced both on a collective and individual level. As I study the astrological climate, the Trojan War comes to mind. The rage of Achilles clashing with the divine shakti of Kali─the ecstasy of destruction and rebirth
Last week, I mentioned that we would have a lot of Uranian energy: surprises, shake-ups, combustion, and commotions. But what I didn’t mention was that Eris was a part of that package…
Eris is the Goddess of discord and strife. She is the sister of Ares/Mars and mother to the Kakodaimones, (plagues of mankind); she seethes with rage and is capable of abominable wreckage. Eris has a greater mass than Pluto, and upon her discovery, unleashed chaos upon the International Astronomical Union, which of course resulted in Pluto’s demotion to a dwarf planet. If she can’t be invited to the party, she will make sure others won’t be attending either─ as was the case in the myth of the Golden Apple, in which Eris essentially caused the Trojan War!
Eris embodies the archetype of the enraged feminine. Society places great emphasis on a woman’s beauty, grace and softness, ignoring the infinite aspects of womanhood. We are emotional beings! We feel a myriad of emotions, not just the pretty ones. And if unexpressed, they get pent up. Menstruation is one healthy release for all that we take in (as well as multiple orgasms), but sometimes we need to vent, cry, scream and destroy. Release is super healthy for the physical, emotional and spiritual bodies. Last week, a woman posted pictures of herself before and after her panic attack. Her post went viral because it was a raw expression of this energy. So if you became an enraged woman (or man!) last week, good for you! You probably feel much lighter now.
Everyone becomes a fierce warrior for the next few weeks. What is your cause?
In other news,
Mercury is travelling with Vesta through the first week of May. This is excellent for house projects and working in the garden. Make it a meditation. This is excellent energy for ritual and tending one’s sacred soul flame.
Mercury and Pluto are in a grand trine with the North Node of Destiny until the first week of June. This is helpful for finding solutions to long term issues, specifically with the mind. Many people who have put off seeking help may do so over the next 7 weeks.
Saturday April 16th, launch anything new or important before 1:48 pm when the Moon goes void in Leo. It’s an excellent day for home projects and working in the yard (weather permitting), but also play! The Moon enters Virgo at 7:23 pm. The day will be more active than the evening, I would imagine. The Virgo Moon is a bit more cautious and discerning. Unless one has the “perfect” evening planned, it’s an evening of keeping it simple.
Sunday, April 17th and Monday, April 18th, Mars and Pluto station retrograde. This is a very potent energy which could express itself in two different extremes: Combined, we see themes of rage, destruction, mutiny, violation, and revenge. The higher expression is that of the rainbow warrior: heroism, passion towards a cause, and fighting for positive change, both in the world and in your own personal experience. Additionally, this combo will intensify feelings over the next few days. Whatever you are feeling will be amplified so choose your thoughts carefully.

The Moon is Void all day on Monday. So the workweek begins to an anticlimactic start. It can still be a productive day if used for following through and catching up. Hold off on beginning anything new until tomorrow, if possible. You will have an easier time getting it off the ground if you are able to wait. Venus trines Saturn: this is a mutually beneficial commitment, or a solidifying of a relationship. This could be any kind of relationship: business, friendship or romance. So, to reiterate, this is a great day for following through with others!
Tuesday, April 19th, the Moon arrives on the Libra balance beam. Libra is a social air sign, ruling relationships. And relating is all about balance! Share the spotlight, engage and support one another.
The Sun enters the sensual sign of Taurus. This is the time of year that we begin to smell the roses... and get ambushed by pollen! We appreciate all of the colors, the smells, even the feeling of grass between our toes. It’s probably more pleasant weather by now, so we may want to indulge on a patio somewhere. Taurus is an earth sign, therefore ruling the physical body. Now that we are getting closer to summer, many of us want to take care of our bodies more. This is when we see the most people running outside.
Venus squares Pluto today, also. We may have a tendency to obsess. This can be concerning an intense love, passion or situation. This could also beget the memory of a past love. A sudden realization may spur us to prioritize differently. This aspect will continue through tomorrow when it’s activated by the Moon. Whatever comes to light gets integrated on Wednesday, April 20th, when Venus trines Saturn. Wednesday can also be super rewarding if we do what brings us joy.
Thursday, April 21st, the Moon is void for the entire day. Long void periods are helpful for integration. Fortunately, their arrival is usually timely, emerging in the wake of crazy transits that rock our world. Today is colored by rebellious Uranus. Say “no” to limitations, break your routine, follow your wild heart. Shake free of constricting emotions or habits. Find a way. Run away if you must.
Friday, April 22nd: FULL MOON 3⁰ Scorpio, 1:24 am. The Scorpio/Taurus polarity is ruled by Venus, Mars and Pluto, who have been especially vocal this month. This polarity is about commitment, deep merging, shared finances, and shared values. Also a deeply passionate combo, we participate by choosing. Venus conjoins Uranus, so we could actually witness a lot of splits. One person might decide that they don’t have enough freedom. This could indicate a reworking of the relationship dynamic, whether spoken or unspoken, which, in turn, supports the happiness of the whole. This energy manifests in our individual relationships, but also within the collective. The issue has been raised regarding money in politics. This story will further unfold under the Full Moon's influence. People will behave rebelliously.
The Sabian Symbol for this degree is the “raising of a house,” and “steps up to a lawn blooming in clover.” Here we see our efforts beginning to manifest. The skeleton of our structure stands, but it already feels like home. The Moon trines Neptune: Our dream is finally manifesting. What more can we do to flesh it out? We may have to alter the original plan a bit. Venus conjoins Uranus. This is a breaking free energy. Pay attention to who you meet. You might meet someone truly inspiring, or someone who encourages a new way of thinking or doing.
Saturday, April 23rd, there’s a Yod formation. The Yod, also known as the Finger of God, is an aspect of fate. Something is meant to come of this on a collective level. Venus and Uranus sit at the apex, a financial revolution, or a revolution of collective values. The Moon and the North Node of Destiny anchor the other corners. I suspect major protests today from the Democracy Spring group, as well as others. The revolution will not be televised.
Sunday, April 24th, should be a quiet day. We sure need one of these! The Moon enters Sagittarius at 8:46 am, but makes no major aspects. While the Moon is not technically void, it can still be a day of integration, rest and playing.
Monday, April 25th, the Moon sets off the Mutable T-square that I’ve been speaking about for almost a year. Involved are Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune. This is all about truth vs. reality. Amongst the chatter over dimensional jumping and parallel realities, perception is truly everything! Which timeline do you want to be a part of? One rooted in consciousness and preservation of the Earth’s beauty, or another that takes advantage of the Earth, fueled by greed? The only thing you take to your grave is your karma.
But I’m guessing that if you are reading this, you probably have already chosen the path of consciousness─- which is why we study astrology; we want to understand the universe and our place in it.
On a personal level, this T-square is helping us to ground our dream into reality. In order to do that, we have to both dream big, and also make adjustments to smoosh it down through the 3rd dimensional peg hole. This T-square formation also suggests a period of smoke and mirrors. We can get idealistic and overly optimistic. Sometimes, that’s all you need to succeed! The caution is being easily duped. During this time, it is of utmost importance to exercise discernment. But also, dare to dream big!
Tuesday, April 26th, Pallas Athena enters Pisces. There is a push to heal collective wounds. Wounds around the water crisis, the plastic in the oceans, the oppression of peoples, and the deception keeping us separate from one another. There will be a surge of people actively working to find solutions.
The Moon goes void in Sag at 11:51 am. Get anything new and important off the ground before then. The void is colored by Venus in Aries: personal values, and relating to others. The Moon then enters Capricorn at 7:54 pm. We are ready to plan and strategize.
Wednesday, April 27th, the Capricorn moon encourages productivity, practicality and follow though. Today is a great day for finding empowering solutions and working towards one’s goals. We are optimistic and seeing possibilities.
Thursday, April 28th, the Moon conjoins Pluto in the wee hours of the morning. Don’t be surprised if the day starts off heavy. Rest assured that the mood should lighten later in the day when the Moon squares Uranus. New ideas flow in; we feel uplifted and more inspired.
Mercury turns retrograde…again!!! Mercury retrograde, as we all know is a time where usual communication gets distorted. Double check text messages, emails and make sure to clarify yourself to prevent misunderstandings. When Mercury retrogrades in Earth signs, the gadgets themselves are endangered. Protect your phone with a durable case, back up photos and important information should your electronics bite the dust! Take care of your car and watch out for broken glass when riding your bike. Remember, Mercury also rules alchemy. During this time we are shown clues as to how we can become more efficient. Pay attention and integrate, if you will. Where will Mercury retrograde take place? Read for your Sun sign and rising sign, if you know it. Mercury remains retrograde until turning direct on May 22nd.
Aries: Mercury retrogrades in your realm of finances and values. Don’t press “confirm” twice, or you might end up with two of everything you ordered and get charged accordingly. Rework your balance of saving and spending, and how.
Taurus: Mercury retrogrades in your sign, Taurus! The slip ups will be on you! Be extra mindful in personal exchanges, and give yourself plenty of extra time to get to work. Discoveries help you make minor adjustments in your communication with the world.
Gemini: Mercury retrogrades in the realm of your subconscious. Things you thought you already dealt with come up for review. Release, make peace; purge, renew.
Cancer: Mercury retrogrades in the realm of friendships, groups, and shared enjoyment. Perhaps a friend comes back from the past or you decide to rejoin a group you used to enjoy. This is a time of review for current friendships and groups.
Leo: Mercury retrogrades in your realm of career and reputation. Perhaps there are changes underway in your place of work. This isn’t the best time to begin a new job, so if you feel that its time to make a move, it’s best to wait until May 22nd, if possible. Plan accordingly.
Virgo: Are you thinking about going back to school or studying something new? Mercury will have an extended stay in the realm of your higher mind. This is an optimal period to practice meditation and listening. Explore and learn.
Libra: Finances and joint resources. Lucky you! Mars is retrograding in your other money house, so it’s time to balance your expenses! This is the year that you align your finances with your goals. Review the current plan and improve it. Avoid combining resources until after May 22nd. In the meantime, make a plan and double check the pending agreement.
Scorpio: Mercury retrogrades in your house of partnership. All partnerships are up for review. See what you can adjust to improve the dynamic for everyone.
Sagittarius: your health and routine are calling for some extra attention. This could be anxiety or nerves as well. Maybe you need some extra rest. Or perhaps you need to manage your time better. If you've been busting your hump, indulge in a "treat yo self" day.
Capricorn: Mercury retrogrades in the house of self-expression and children. If you are a parent, your child may need some extra attention during this time. If its not a child, then its you who needs to play more! This is also the house of romance. Perhaps an old flame is reignited─ either with another person, or for the love of an enjoyable activity.
Aquarius: Mercury retrogrades in your home! What projects have you been putting off? If you choose to begin any big projects, remember the rule, “measure twice, cut once!!” Especially during Mercury retrograde. Boy, is he a trickster! This is not the optimal time to move or sign important documents, but time won’t wait! So in order to compensate, read all of the fine print and never assume anything. Double check on everything.
Pisces: Mercury retrogrades in your third house of the mind, communication and siblings. Maybe it’s a sibling who has a drama. More than anyone else, protect your gadgets, and double check your texts and emails, Pisces!!!
Friday, April 29th, Venus enters her home sign of Taurus. It’s time to appreciate the beauty all around us. Venus in Taurus is the quintessential expression of the sensual feminine. Her inner beauty radiates outward; she tends her garden, defends her herd and has superb taste. People with Venus in Taurus have an extra refined palate and an intuitive sense of aesthetic. So now we are all taking notes from this goddess. Treasure your loved ones, and enjoy the simple things in life─ with gusto!
The Moon is in quirky, inventive Aquarius today. For the next couple of days, break your routine if you feel inspired to do so. You never know what discoveries you might find!
Saturday, April 30th, the Moon remains in unpredictable Aquarius. Chances are you are feeling playful, wild and social. Do something fun with friends that’s spontaneous or out of the ordinary. Satisfy your inner rebel! It’s also a day for focusing on the future and discovering inventive solutions, although they usually come unexpectedly! Call in this clarity with unusual behavior!
From the teachings of Don Juan, in regards to the warrior spirit:
I am already given to the power that rules my fate. And I cling to nothing, so I will have
nothing to defend.
I have no thoughts, so I will see.
I fear nothing, so I will remember myself.
Detached and at ease, I will dart past the Eagle to be free...
Infinite Blessings and Love,

Mercury owns the title for most notorious retrograde, but what’s not as well known is that all of the planets in our solar system travel retrograde as well. This month, Mercury, Mars and Pluto turn retrograde. Out of these three, Mars will be the most influential. Here’s why: Mercury spends half of the year moving in and out of retrograde. It might not always be fun, but we are familiar with navigating the choppy waters of miscommunication, avoiding the purchase of electronics and so forth. Mars, on the other hand, only turns retrograde once every two years, doubling his usual two-month residence in each sign. His extended stay in a sign further emphasizes their respective signatures, while encouraging us to rework the domains in our charts.
Mars will begin his retrograde in the sign of Sagittarius, where cultural themes of foreign policy, xenophobia, religion and world view will arise. Student loans also fall under the domain of Sagittarius. Then we move into the realm of Scorpio, wherein lies a trove of buried secrets waiting to be uncovered. In recent news, impressive amounts of secret documents have already been released to the public, condemning their supporters. The truth never stays hidden for long. Scorpio rules shame, but also redemption. Mars turns retrograde on April 17th at 9⁰ Sagittarius, reentering Scorpio on May 27th; Mars stations direct at 23⁰ Scorpio on June 29th and finally makes his way to his original degree on August 23rd. It’s said that while the God of War is retrograde, “Those who start wars shall lose.” It will be interesting to observe how political combat plays out, in this regard.
The very next day, April 18th, Pluto makes his annual station retrograde at 17⁰ Capricorn. Here we have two very volatile and powerful planets stationing together in sky. The few days surrounding this event should be especially tumultuous. The other interesting thing to note is that Pluto will finally return to this degree at the time of the Presidential inauguration, in January 2017─ which is why I think it’s so important that we include him in our analysis.
Mercury retrogrades are in the Earth signs this year, urging us to reconsider basic structures in our lives, such as values, finances, health and career. On a collective level, this is “American values,” the economy, health care and the entire political institution itself. This month, Mercury spends some extra time in Taurus, wherein we take extra time to ponder our values and finances.
Let’s take a look at how these retrogrades will interact with the natal charts of our Presidential hopefuls:
The God of War may be the most lenient on Senator Sanders, as he was born during a Mars retrograde! Bernie’s natal Mars conjoins his Moon in Aries. Interesting that Mars is in his rulership, but it’s expression is goes in an alternative direction: he passionately fights for the underdogs of the world─ the poor, victims of prejudice, and particularly women. While Mars in Aries typically aims for glory, Mr. Sanders will always do the right thing, but without a care for pleasing the majority. He has always beat to his own drum, and should actually feel more at home while Mars is retrograde. Additionally, Mars moving in his direction may actually make him appear more electable to those who have doubted his potential to lead.
Mars retrograde will transit Bernie’s first house, influencing his direction and how he presents himself to the world. We may see Bernie adopt a new angle on the campaign trail. He’s a very practical guy, but we might see some subtle adjustments in his wardrobe. Whatever adjustments he makes in his personal presentation will affect how the people receive him, either increasing or decreasing his support. Mars will oppose his natal Saturn, representing added stress in his crusade against the status-quo. Hillary is growing angrier with Sanders’ victories. I believe that she will throw some fireballs here, and Sanders will be challenged to stay focused and keep his cool.
Mars also opposes his natal Uranus, who has the last word upon turning direct: this is a surprise of some kind involving relationships, his teammates and open enemies. Expect to maybe hear about who he partners with around May 27th and August 3rd. Perhaps this could indicate a running mate. There will be an element of shock or revolution here. This could also indicate something shocking that happens with his opponent, which would thus affect his campaign. Retrograde Mas also transits Pallas Athena (weaver of wisdom) in his first house, aiding in the revamping of new plans and strategies. Mars stations direct in sextile to Neptune, which could indicate a small victory or a dream coming true.
Mercury retrogrades in the Senator’s 6th house of health, work and routine. He may have to make adjustments to his schedule that are more supportive to his health. He’s been a busy guy, and perhaps some rest is in order, or at least not overloading his schedule. Mercury stations retrograde in a harmonious trine to his North Node of destiny in his 10th house of career and leadership. Mercury will station direct in trine to his Sun (also in his 10th house), and eventually return to trine his North Node on June 7th. All in all, if he makes the necessary adjustments to his routine, he should be rewarded.
Pluto retrograde trines Bernie’s Sun, forming a grand trine with transiting Mercury! Things are looking pretty positive here. Pluto will help Senator Sanders with resourcefulness, extra help from others and giving him his own boost of personal power from within. Pluto’s trine is ongoing, and probably represents his devoted (even obsessed) supporters.
Hillary Clinton is also a Scorpio rising, like Bernie Sanders. Scorpio rising indicates that people will either really like you, or really despise you. Scorpio is all or nothing, and tends to be tight lipped when they must. Hillary is notorious for keeping secrets. Secretary Clinton has a fascinating natal chart worthy of a whole separate article. Notably, Mercury is stationary in her chart, neither moving forward or back; this could indicate why she changes her position so much, as she’s not sure which way to go! It’s unclear if the Mercury retrograde will favor her or not, because her natal Mercury doesn’t know which direction its going either. As in Bernie’s case, Mercury will also retrograde in Ms. Clinton’s 6th house of health, work and routine. Adjustments will be made to optimize her schedule, and to maybe even address some health issues.
Also like Senator Sanders, Mars will also retrograde within Hillary’s 1st house, re-configuring how she presents herself into the world. As mentioned, we may witness a change in her angle of attack, as well as in her appearance. Jupiter is positioned extremely strong in her 1st house at 0⁰30’ Sagittarius, which reflects her ardent involvement in politics, global companies and the UN. She is a worldly woman, for sure, with plenty of experience engaging with other cultures. Some praise this experience, and others criticize her involvement. Mars will retrograde back and forth over her Jupiter around May 27th and June 29th. This can be a very positive transit, boosting energy, even to the point of grandiosity. Watch for changes pertaining to her stance on foreign policy. Clinton is currently under serious investigation for the content of her secret emails; Mars transiting her Jupiter will develop this story further, even potentially altering her political identity.
(***It can be noted that May 27th and August 3rd) are triggers to both Bernie and Hillary, since they both have planets at 0⁰, in opposition to one another. Prior to turning retrograde, Mars already triggered 0⁰ on March 7th, when the two democratic nominees debated in Flint Michigan. This is when tensions began to get heated.)
Mars stations direct on Secretary Clinton’s South Node of past karma, where “you reap what you sow.” She will either be rewarded for her efforts, or patronized for something she did wrong. Whatever the case, it will affect her public image, for better or for worse (June 29th). Mars retrograde inconjuncts her 8th house Uranus, which indicates pressure to adjust her shared resources with others. This most likely reflects her wealthy corporate investors. She has accused the Sanders Campaign of lying about her corporate sponsorships. She will either have to prove the Sanders Campaign wrong or come clean about her financial endorsements.
Mercury stations retrograde on her North Node, which could indicate a small fall from grace, at first. It goes not a second further, which doesn’t help; it is astonishingly partile to the minute. Mercury stations direct on the midpoint of her Venus and Chiron; she would do well to reach out to women who are in unfortunate situations. When Mercury returns to her North Node around June 27th, there will be a revitalization. Someone significant will endorse her or some redeeming information will arise. Mercury rules the media, so there could be a media stunt that is well received here.
Pluto sextiles her natal Venus, which is a nice aspect of empowerment and leadership. This makes her appealing to the women who she has promised to fight for. However, Pluto also inconjuncts her natal Pluto, which indicates a misuse of power, or an imbalance in the flow of her energy. An adjustment will be in order.
Trump will also be urged to make minor adjustments to his image and how he presents himself to the world. However, Mars will mostly affect his home, family, ancestral roots and his past. Commotion began when his famous tweet compared his wife to rival Ted Cruz’s; this occurred right as Mars transited his natal Lilith in his 4th house (Lilith is the wild woman archetype who refused to lay with Adam). I suspect we will hear an addendum to this story around May 11th and August 16th. I wouldn’t be surprised if Melania did something rebellious. Mars squares his Mars, which will encourage even more impulsive behavior, affecting his entitlement and his ego, creating upsets in his wake. His pride will either take a hit, or spiral into delusions of grandiose.
Mars will station direct in harmonious trine to his Venus/Saturn conjunction, which indicates helpful contacts who are either female or wealthy. Perhaps his female family members will rally around him stronger than ever.
Now, if the saying is true, that those who start wars shall lose (during Mars retrograde), then Trump should sruggle the most out of everyone.
Mercury stations retrograde just one degree shy of Trump’s Midheaven, drawing more controversy over his reputation. But mostly, Mercury retrogrades his 9th house of foreigners, philosophy, law and dogma. You don’t have to study astrology to predict him: he’s going to preach overzealous dogma, offending people left and right. Most interestingly, over the course of the retrograde, Mercury will form a yod (aspect of destiny), inconjuncting both his Juno/Chiron conjunction (rage against the feminine), and his Moon/South Node in Sag (rage against feminine, foreigners). He will have the opportunity to heal his own wounds around relating to women; however, we will most likely see tantrums and continued disrespect to foreign nations and women. Humiliation will hurt his pride more than anything else, and it may be dealt by a woman. By the looks of it, I wouldn’t be surprised if the shaming comes from his wife, daughter, or someone else close to him.
Pluto squares his natal Jupiter in his 2nd house; herein lies a choice. Either to squander and abuse resources to the fullest, or answer to the pressure to expand world view. This transit could make his money bag even fatter. Watch for changes in his finances, values, and within the law.
Cruz has an interesting natal chart as well. He comes across as the nice guy from down the street. But don’t be fooled by his charismatic demeanor (Libra rising); Cruz was born on the darkest night of the year, in the middle of the night. There is a depth to him that most people can’t recognize. He’s always plotting his next move, with strategy and containment. He’s got a degree in “killing with kindness,” as we bore witness with his tactful response to Trump’s tweet about his wife.
The other interesting aspect of his chart is that he was born during Mercury retrograde; indicating that his mind operates non-linearly. He speaks and thinks in circles─ in ways that not everyone can understand. During Mercury retrograde, he will make more sense to people and perceived as a more dependable, consistent leader. He will be able to communicate more clearly during this time. He will navigate the Mercury retrograde better than any other candidate.
Mercury passes over his Saturn/Juno conjunction in Taurus three times: April 17th, May 12th, and June 1st. This configuration represents his unwavering dedication to his wife and values he holds dear. This configuration also enhances his dependability to stand firm in his convictions. On these dates, we can expect to see themes in regards to his consistency, loyalty, strong Christian values, but also, his wife, shared resources, finances and endings. His reputation can be strengthened as someone who is reliable and trustworthy.
Headlines reported “Ted Cruz’s horrible week,” when Mars conjoined his natal Jupiter as the end of February. His campaign appeared to be endangered when he fired his campaign manager and lost Nevada. In the following weeks, he bounced back with some good luck (Mars conjunct his natal Neptune and Vesta). It was then that he garnered a big win in his home state, Texas, and was endorsed by Fiorina.
Mars will return to these points of good fortune May 16th-23rd, most likely attracting more support from focused republicans who are against Trump. It will be interesting to see what happens when Mars triggers his Jupiter again June 10th-13th, and coincidentally during the RNC, July 18th-24th. I predict that this will add vigor to his campaign. His natal Jupiter squares both his Nodes of destiny, promising only choices: some will hold him back, and others will propel him forward. With Jupiter, we will see big results in either direction.
Pluto trines his Saturn/Juno conjunction, which can enhance his stature as a reliable man of values. Pluto also squares his Libra Moon, which could mean big changes for the women in his life. It may also force him to reevaluate being “too nice.” To win against Trump, he may have to get more aggressive.
I’ve tried to remain somewhat neutral here, but perhaps my bias even penetrates my astrological lens. However, I predict Bernie will most successfully ride these waves. For a few reasons:
1) He’s the only candidate whose nodes aren’t aspected in a challenging way. Mercury makes 3 helpful trines to both his Sun and North Node of destiny, which are strongly placed in his 10th house of leadership. Hillary and Cruz get action on both nodes, potentially garnering a fall or a rise, although Hillary is almost guaranteed to fall. Donald’s South Node is negatively affected. Both Hillary and Donald will reap what they sow, for better or for worse.
2) Bernie has Mars Retrograde natally, so he should fare well during this period. Cruz is second in line, because he’s going to handle the Mercury retrograde best.
3) Unlike Sanders, Trump and Cruz, Clinton receives zero helpful trines from the retrograde planets. Bernie receives the most positive aspects, and to some of the strongest points in his chart, at that (trines to his 10th house Sun and North Node, indicating a destiny to lead). Trump and Cruz receive some helpful trines as well, but no aspects as strong as Bernie’s.
Now we just have to wait and see!
*All times are read for Eastern Daylight Time; for Pacific Daylight Time, subtract 3 hours
Just out of eclipse season, we are experiencing aspects that carry the inherent possibility for major changes in our lives; whether relinquishing something outworn that has been a constant in our lives, or experiencing changes that initiate new themes and chapters. A lot can happen in the next couple of weeks.
The overall climate:
Friday, April 1st is April Fool’s Day. The origins of the “holiday” seem to be rooted in the time when the Holy Roman Empire began to merge its holidays with the Earth worshipers. The pagan peoples who continued to celebrate the New Year around the Equinox would be subject to pranks; of course, said pranks were dished by those who changed their calendars and thus already celebrated on January 1st. I’d imagine that some of these “pranks” were quite heinous. Not to dampen to fun, I just thought that was interesting.
On this day, the Moon goes void in Capricorn at 12:39 pm with a sextile to Venus, and remains void until entering Aquarius at 9:37 pm. This void period is meant for enjoyment (or pranks!). Do what makes you happy! If you are at work, I’d imagine that the mood would be elevated. Keep things light and leave early if you can! Socialize with others if it’s available to you. People should be relatively chatty.
Saturday, April 2nd, get in touch with your creativity. The Aquarius moon encourages us to innovate, and change up the process in order to discover new modes of doing. Whatever activities you engage in may result in an upgrade, or an “aha!” There is plenty of energetic inspiration to keep moving! Be playful, spontaneous and experimental. You should feel a magical spark today.
Sunday, April 3rd, we are focused on the future and may even catch a vivid glimpse of what that might look like, should we continue on the path we are on. Do we like what we see? If not, how can we make an adjustment to alter our future in higher alignment with our heart’s path? The ability to recognize patterns is strong today. Pay attention.
Monday, April 4th, dare to dream. Allow yourself to float into the realm of endless imagination today. We have one foot on the ground, while the other floats to the sky, allowing for practical envisioning. We may have to do something that we don’t want to do around 3pm, or we might just feel low energy. However the roadblock manifests, just float through it, knowing that it is temporary. If you are dissatisfied with a routine task at hand, allow your imagination to carry you into your ideal version. What does that feel or look like? The Moon conjoins Neptune in the evening; this is great for healthy escapes: maybe it’s a romantic evening, movie, book, music, meditation, journaling, art or getting creative on your yoga mat. If the weather is nice, go wander around. Disappear into your happy place.
Tuesday, April 5th, the Moon is void for the entire day, so we may not feel much of a shift until tomorrow (unless you are an extra sensitive person), but it is truly an eventful day in the heavens. The day is colored by Pluto, which may call us into the past, deepen our thought, heighten emotion or enhance personal power. The Sun trines Saturn, keeping us practical and grounded as we steadily move closer into alignment with our goals. It’s about building a healthy structure that supports our ego development.
Venus enters Aries, free from the wrath of the fairytale. She’s divorcing the idea of prince charming and she’s ready to play! Venus in Aries puts herself first, no matter what. She’s spontaneous, fun, and bores easily. Once she decides that she no longer likes something, that’s it. She’s done. Venus in Aries enjoys activity and values her independence. The moment she feels smothered, she will flee. Venus remains in Aries until April 29th. Until then, don’t make too many commitments unless they are truly in alignment with your heart. Allow yourself plenty of free time for spontaneous play. Focus more energy on what is really important to your spirit. Everyone else will be focused on themselves too, so they will either understand, or they will become impatient with you.
Mercury also changes signs, entering sensual Taurus today. Our exchanges with the world will rely on all 6 of our senses. Most people hear, but now is the time to truly listen. The mind slows down a bit in Taurus. See if you can use this energy to absorb what others are genuinely saying: use your ears, eyes and heart. Listen to the Earth, to your higher self, to spirit… This is an excellent time to nurture the meditative mind, the neutral mind that is here, now.
Wednesday, April 6th, the Moon enters Aries and catches up with Venus in the wee hours of the morning. It should be easy to get up and get moving today. Today is inherently potent for getting things done. Rapidly check off that to-do list if you can! The Sun comes into an exact square with Pluto. Old aspects of the self arise for purging, perhaps it's a feeling. Sit with these feelings and ask yourself why they are coming up. What is the purpose? What is the lesson? How is this serving me? Anger and sadness can be excellent teachers, but do you want to stay in the same classroom forever? At some point, you have to do your homework and graduate. The lesson here is evolution. Rise above. Use the muck to fuel you forward. Shit is the best compost in the world. Fertilize that soil and grow.
Thursday, April 7th is a wild New Moon! Why so wild? Because the Sun and Moon see their new cycle conjoined with the planet of unpredictability, Uranus. All three of these guys square the planet of turmoil and transcendence, Pluto. This is a very powerful New Moon centered around change. New Moons are periods of renewal, setting intentions and initiating anything new. This is the kind of change that revives you in some way. You might feel reawakened, inspired to approach something in a new way.
The Sabian Symbol for the 19th degree of Aries is “a magic carpet.” We are invited to elevate our perspective, to rise above an obstacle, or to distance oneself from a stressful situation. When you are in a maze, it’s difficult to see the solution. Often, it’s helpful to step away and do something that brings you joy. It’s there, in your elevated state, that you are finally able to see what it is that you need to do. This could indicate that a vacation or a mini excursion is in order. Magic carpets are of course, magical! Invite magic into your life with intent or with play.
This symbol can also allude to meditation, astral travel and other spiritual arts. When we feel we are in the flow of magic, we are liberated from stress. Anything seems possible. Magic carpets zoom above the terrain. We are in the fast lane now. When you connect with your bliss, you are in the fast lane. The line always moves slower when you are stressing about it. The caution here is the avoid unrealistic or unhealthy escapism. Avoiding the problem completely doesn’t solve anything. You must be willing to participate.
Following the New Moon at 7:48 am EDT, the Moon goes void at 10:56 am. The rest of the day is colored by Uranus’ wild streak. Things move fast and fiercely. Be careful driving and be ready for surprises.
Friday, April 8th is a rather pleasant day. The Moon is in harmonious, constant Taurus. Optimism and patience are easily accessible. Listen to your body. If you don’t feel like getting up, it’s okay. If you have a craving for a certain food or drink, there is probably a good reason for this. Yesterday may have created some anxiety, so today’s aspects indicate recovery, however your body instructs you. Listen. Tomorrow, the Sun conjoins speedy Uranus. Due to his lightning speed, we often feel his presence early. Perhaps a physical outlet is needed, to curb anxiety or restlessness.
Saturday, April 9th, the Sun makes its annual conjunction to Uranus at 5:27 pm. With this speedy guy, we’ll be feeling the heightened energy all day. People move as quickly as their tongues─ Be careful what you say! Good foresight would be to plan plenty of activities so that the energy has a healthy outlet. Expect radical headlines today (although they’ve probably been wild all week). There’s an energy around rebellion, revolution, discovering new avenues of doing, innovative findings and events that shatter reality as we knew it. Uranus rules lightning and earthquakes because of its ability to awaken and dismantle. He is an unpredictable renegade, heralding new ideas and structures. Expect these themes to be rampant from April 7th, to now and for the next few days.
Sunday, April 10th, begins to a beautiful start. The Moon is in chatty Gemini and makes a harmonious aspect to Venus. Sunday-fun-day. It’s a spectacular morning to get brunch with friends, or to be on the move; excellent for bike riding, running or visiting the museum. Gemini is a gathering sign, who loves to soak up new information. So get outside and experience the world. If you’re not feeling it, books are nice too. Around 4:00 pm, it’s possible that someone gets a little overzealous. Debates are possible and they won’t necessarily be cordial if someone is really strong in their beliefs. Try to stay level and exchange objectively, without getting emotionally disheveled.
We are all entitled to our beliefs. Today and tomorrow, the Moon is activating the Jupiter/Saturn/Neptune T-square of 2016. This is a stressful configuration that confronts truth, reality, myth and fantasy. Often when people nestle themselves into a belief, they can become hardened, resistant to new information. Sometimes people will go to extremes to maintain their belief structure.
The media blackout of Bernie Sanders is a reflection of this astrological configuration. The media produces a version of truth that supports the agenda of the elite. Meanwhile, a large portion of the population feeds into this propaganda, thus believing that these rigged structures actually have their best interest. More and more people are waking up, realizing that the media supports a contrived reality, one which distorts the collective state of inequality; these people seek news elsewhere. There is a billionaire behind the curtain and his name is Walt Disney. Every major news channel is owned by someone who is absurdly wealthy, and who will do anything to protect their dishonest gains. Recently, it was revealed that Disney fired several employees, who will be replaced by low wage international workers. What a shame.
This is of course an extreme example of this energy. It can manifest on a personal level as well. Where do we willingly pull the wool over our eyes? Everyone has their own truth, so it’s challenging to discern the whole truth. This T-square helps us to confront fallacies, in order to create a sturdier structure around the dream that we are creating, both personally and collectively. The more energy you focus on your vision, the more likely it is to arrive. Dreams really do come true!
Monday, April 11th, the work week gets off to a healthy start with the Moon in vivacious Gemini. If you need to launch something new, get it off the ground before 2:57 pm EDT, when the Moon goes void. Plenty of energy is available to carry you through the rest of the day.
Tuesday, April 12th, Venus forms a harmonious trine with Mars. This is a fiery, independent female and a well-read male who has a strong moral philosophy. They are having a friendly conversation. Aside from the “friendly” part, this duo reminds me or Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Let’s see what happens. These planets have been talking since the weekend, but arrive in exactitude today. On a personal level, this could be a harmonious interaction with the opposite sex. In the fire signs, this is a lot of passion. Passion can heighten attraction, or even anger! Since this is a trine, I would guess that should an argument arise, it will be easy to squash and something good will come out of it. This is great for witty banter with your mate and doing fun things together.
Wednesday, April 13th, the Moon is in sensitive Cancer. The morning starts out steady, with a dose of optimism. As we move into the afternoon, emotions intensify. We are going to feel moody today. It’s okay, you’re allowed! Get a healthy outlet. If a good cry is in order, watch a movie that is sure to invoke tears. Breaking glass is a good ritual to rid of anger. I recommend smashing the glass into the dumpster, so that you don’t pass the anger on, by potentially puncturing someone’s bike tire. That's bad karma! While some people say that breaking a mirror is bad luck, other cultures believe that glass absorbs negativity, then rids of it upon breaking. Last week on the Saturn station, I was feeling melancholy at work. At some point during the day, a hand mirror slid off of my station and shattered! I got a good chuckle out of it knowing that it happened for a reason! Yes, I’m condoning glass breaking, however, I suggest that it be a ritual of intent.
Thursday, April 14th, the day may have a slow start if you rise early. The pace picks up a bit at 9:53 am when the Moon enters passionate Leo. We are feeling more positive today. There is a grand trine between Mercury, Jupiter and Pluto in the Earth signs. Some keywords for the day are: resourceful, methodical, grounded ambition; strategic, patient, loyal, productive and steadfast. No need to be extraordinary, just consistent.
Ceres enters Aries today, where she will stay throughout the planting season. Aries is a dry fire sign, not the optimal place for the Goddess of Agriculture. Without pleasure, I predict that there will be some kind of shortage. Ceres was fighting with her arch nemesis Pluto (who abducted and raped her daughter, Persephone) in 2014 when lime and hazelnut crops were threatened. Due to El Niño, I wouldn’t be surprised if our crops were to behave differently this year, anyhow. Might el Niño cause plants to sprout too early? This is also an Aries characteristic of jumping the gun too early. Potential shortages could also be due drought in some regions or insect infestation. We shall wait and see.
Friday, April 15th, there is an abundance of ease. The day has a nice flow to it. The fabulous Leo Moon gets us in touch with our playful side. With a nice grand trine to Venus and Saturn, we may feel inspired to put an extra snazzy spin on our outfit or hair today. Be authentic, and be fearless to try something you’ve always wanted to try. There is *another* grand trine with Mercury, Jupiter and Pluto, enhancing personal power, productivity and pursuing your ambitions in a grounded, strategic manner.
May we all awaken to, and walk in our highest truths; may we all activate our heart chakras, elevating the collective vibration of Mother Earth.
Love, peace and heart activation to ALL....
