Sugar + Spice, why can't we have anything nice? Benefics vs Malefics in August 2025

I’ve been describing the current astrological weather as “sugar and spice - why can’t we have anything nice?” This is of course due to a GORGOEUS alignment of Venus and Jupiter in Cancer - a sign where each benefic thrives, and can therefore, deliver even more sweetness. The benefic planets find themselves cozy in the sign of Cancer, a sign of familiarity, rhythm, ritual, and therefore predictability. This is why Cancer is associated with security - but also nourishment. A bonified Cancer cultivates a sense of feeling held, understood, and unconditionally cared for. It’s about belonging. Over the weekend, in the (R)Evolution Rising Summit, we discussed the current astrological weather and the emerging importance of being the village - generosity, reciprocity and mutual care. 

At the same time, Mars opposes Saturn along the Aries-Libra axis. This is one of the harshest aspects of the year, rivaling the juiciness of the Venus-Jupiter alignment (which occurs every year, but only once every twelve years in Cancer). Mars-Saturn can be injurious, halting, damaging. It can be poisonous, challenging and strenuous. Indeed, the astrological weather paints quite a contrast! No matter how the Mars-Saturn alignment is emerging in your sphere, I want you to remember to lean into where Venus-Jupiter offers ease, understanding and love. Be a ray of compassion in the world.
